Just for Fun

First off, I'd just like to say that Mom is doing a great job of blogging :)  Secondly, in case you're wondering what I'm doing now that I'm in Colorado (other than school), I have a part-time job.  I'm a cow.  Yes, that's right, a cow.  I am now a proud employee of Chick-fil-A.  I am a cow mascot, and I actually quite enjoy it :)
If you're wondering what I do as a cow, I entertain people (especially kids) and stand on the sidewalk and wave at cars.  Generally, I get the cow suit on, walk through the restaurant and greet/play with all the kids, go outside and dance around and wave for about 45 minutes (and I have now seen 3 different people videoing me), come back in, greet the kids again, take the suit off, take a 15 minute break, then repeat.  I'm usually there for 3 hours (or 1.5 hours on the one day a week I'm there for breakfast).  I also go to special events as the cow, just for some good publicity.  When I'm in the cow suit, I'm practically a celebrity.  I could give Mickey Mouse a run for his money.

I went to a polar plunge as the cow, and I made a friend!

There was a "Pirate and Princess Night" at the restaurant last week :)

I get to wear pajamas for "Family Funrise" - a Saturday with special crafts, games, and stories, and kids  come in their pajamas.  Family Funrise days are 6-hour days.

Prairie Women's Sewing Circle - Journey II

The shop just completed it's first round of meetings for the Prairie Women's Sewing Club - Journey II.  There is another group of meetings starting in March on the second Saturday, the 10th,  and the second Wednesday, the 14th  We meet from 10am to Noon.  The cost is $40.00 and includes 7 patterns plus materials to work on a bonus project during meeting times.

This is a sampling of quilts that were made by some of the ladies in the first group.  A few are still being worked on but it is still nice to view them.

Loghouse Retreat

The first weekend was February, 2012 launched retreats at the Loghouse!  There was a lot of sewing, good food, a white elephant exchange and much laughter.

The spacious living room was converted into a well-lit sewing area!

Ann Rowland was our cook for healthy meals, such as, homemade soup, meatloaf, yummy salads and an awesome chicken dish!  Delphine made "almost no-knead bread" for lunch.

These were the results of a "use the packet of batting samples" challange and maybe win a door prize!

Our guardian for the weekend.

Helen McCoy put this Texas style Yellow Brick Road together over the weekend.

Jan Bonarski put together this quilt top.
Cheryl Code competed her Thangles quilt top.

Quilts in Colorado

I finally got around to opening an in-state bank account today.  Go figure, the bank I chose is having some sort of quilting event.  They had quilts hanging all over the place :)

These first two are miniatures:

I think this would be really cool to see unfolded.  What a simple, neat idea.

I would like to point out the sizes of these next two quilts in relation to the sticky notes...
