Rearranging

Lately, we've been working on rearranging where some of the fabrics are kept. The North wall of the store (left when you walk in) used to host the kids' fabrics and the blender fabrics. Now, it's all one big color wall! The first half of the wall is mottled and solid fabrics, and the second half is the blender prints. The kids' fabrics are now in the back of the store, and the back wall is a great place for hanging samples and panels.

Pickles, the Elephant

Meet Pickles, the elephant - the latest addition to our collection of soft toy pattern samples. This is another great pattern by Jennifer Jangles. I think it may be getting added to my list of favorite patterns :)

New Fabrics!

Once again, there are many new fabrics in the shop! This first one just came in, and it's beautiful.

I think this line is quite fun.

This line has already been quite popular:

This is also a very pretty line:

...and this last one isn't exactly brand new, but I think it's still new enough to post here:

Inventory Reduction Sale!

The new, spacious sale area in the store has been loaded up with lots of great fabrics! All of the Christmas fabrics are there now, and everything is $6.00 a yard (with a one yard minimum cut), or $5.00 a yard when you finish a bolt! Help us reduce our inventory before we have to count it all at the end of the year! (and note: the store will be closed December 31 and January 1 so we can count inventory)

The Neighborhood Quilt is Ready for Viewing

Ta-da...Finally the shop's "Block of the Month" is ready for viewing.  Here's a sneak peek of "ALL AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD"...

This unique Block of the Month program allows you to use fabric you already have as you make houses and other buildings plus trees, flowers, sidewalks and more. Judy will host 2 meetings per month where you can learn the techniques for that month’s blocks and start putting them together. The cost is $75.00 plus a requirement to purchase 1.5 yards of background fabric and 1 yard of border fabric from Delphine’s. For your $75.00 you will receive color-coded patterns plus 1½ hours of instruction time per month with Judy. The first meetings will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13th and Saturday, Feb. 16th.  All the othermeetings will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month and the Saturday following the 2nd Wednesday.  The program will continue until August or 7 months.

I must say that it is a great quilt to work on - going through my scraps and finding fun fabrics to add personality and special little touches. Remember, you may choose any background fabric and any border fabrics - your choice of colors.

You will be able to see the quilt in person starting Tuesday, December 18th.  The size of the quilt is approximately 55" x 60".  Won't you join me?

Happy Sewing,
Judy

Ten Little Ducks

Delphine just finished a sample from a quilt line related to the book 10 Little Rubber Ducks. I've never seen the book, but the fabric is adorable. Evidently, the story is that ten little rubber ducks were made in a factory, then boxed up and shipped out on a boat. There was a storm, and the poor little duckies fell overboard and wound up all alone in the ocean. But then, each one was adopted by a friendly sea creature, so they all wound up with a home after all.

Little Ditties

I just recently finished making samples of another pattern by Jennifer Jangles. I've made several of her patterns now (I'm making the elephant next), and they're some of my favorites. They're incredibly well-written, with great pictures of each step. The Little Ditties pattern provides patterns and instructions for a toadstool, cupcake, crab, and turtle. They're all very cute little cinch-bags. One of the workers here is thinking of making some for her grandkids and filling them with small toys or candies. What a great idea.

Selected Samples for Sale!

Now that we have lots of space in our new area, we have room to put out some former samples and other quilts for sale! There are quilts of pretty much any size here, though most of them are smaller (actually, I think the largest one is an antique double). There are throws, wallhangings, table runners, pillowcases... Soon, there will even be some of the doll clothes I've made as samples, and I'm sure other new things will continue to be added.

Here are some pictures of this section of the store:

Gift Ideas

Need some ideas for gifts for a quilter? Well, we have lots and lots of options here. We have gift certificates, baskets, scissors, notions, patterns, notebooks, cards, etc. Since showing all of those options would take too much space, I'm going to show you some of our options for wearable gifts.

First, we have some great jewelry (earrings, necklaces, and pins), as well as some Christmas ornaments. These are all so much fun to look at. The detail is pretty impressive. They're all made out of polymer clay, using the millefiori technique, and they're all miniature quilt blocks. All of the jewelry items are on display by the register.

We also have some other quilt block pendants that are quite nice:

Also, there is the option of a nice chainmail bracelet, made by me:

I think this is currently my favorite. It makes me think of Christmas lights.

These may not exactly fall in the wearable category, unless you consider that your scissors can wear them. We have a pretty good selection of glass scissor fobs:

...and we have some fun quilting-related t-shirts (which are on sale at the moment):

Finally, we have beautiful, batik rayon scarves. These are just gorgeous.

Fabrics on Sale! (Christmas, Fall, and Sale)

Christmas and fall fabrics are now on sale! All are located in the back of the store and are marked with green dots on the ends of the bolts. They are all now $8.00 a yard, with only a quarter yard minimum cut.
Also, all the fabric in the sale area is now $6.00 a yard. There are some really great fabrics in both places. If you haven't seen the new section of the store, stop on by and give it a look! It's great. We cut a hole in the wall and rented the space next to us. Currently, the sale area is in the new side, along with a full wall displaying samples, some samples for sale, and some t-shirts and lovely scarves.

Here are a couple pictures of the sale fabrics:

...and here are the Christmas fabrics. Be careful when you look for the ones on sale, though. There are some non-Christmas, non-fall fabrics in this area now, so you'll have to look for the green dots.

*note: Only the fabrics on the top shelf of the picture below are considered "Christmas". The others are "winter" fabrics.
