Quilts of Valor at Gaylord Quilt Guild Show

In case you weren’t able to attend the quilt show last weekend, here is what the Quilts of Valor display looked like! We hung 3 quilts with their presentation cases (pillow cases) and a little blurb explaining the purpose of QOV and our group. The quilts hung in the main hallway, which was on the way to the main entrance of the show. There were many positive comments from the viewers. Good work everyone!!

The first quilt on the left is the latest quilt that was finished. To date, we have completed 10 quilts – 3 of the snowball quilt (middle one), 2 of the string/star quilt (right quilt), 1 plaid star quilt (left one), and 4 quilts that were donated but needed borders added to bring them up to size. The 11th quilt is all pieced and awaiting quilting.

Fiona Tuffet on H.M.Y. Britannia

Fiona recently explored H.M.Y. (Her Majesty's Yacht) Britannia. The queen traveled all over the world on this, and it did a lot of traveling over the decades it spent in service. It was recently retired and permanently moored in Edinburgh. It really is a floating palace!

Recognize that bridge? The Britannia cruised under the Mighty Mac on July 5, 1959.

This wombat was a great favorite of the sailors. They used him to invent the game of "wombat tennis", which involved the ceiling fan.

A Handy Guide to Binding

Almost every quilt needs a binding. Do you like or dislike putting them on? Which ever your answer is, I think this guide will be a handy reference next time you finish a quilt. Click on the link to go to the guide!

Fiona Tuffet at Giant's Causeway

Here's Fiona at Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland! It's a very unique place where the rocks have formed hexagonal columns. Legend has it that it was built by giants as part of a bridge that stretched from Ireland to Scotland.

Fiona Tuffet on the North Coast

Fiona has been doing lots of traveling lately! She'll be uploading all her pictures over the next several days, so stay tuned! First off, here she is on the North Coast of Northern Ireland.

on the North Coast at Carrick-a-Rede:

Carrick-a-Rede. There's a rope bridge that takes you to that little island. The bridge is a lot sturdier now than it used to be. It used to be used by fishermen:
