Sidewalk Sales!

This coming weekend, Gaylord is having its annual Sidewalk Sales. Delphine's is participating as well, and will have some great deals! The Sale will run August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. During this time, all fabric in the sale area (hundreds of bolts) will be $5 a yard, and all other items in the sale area will be marked at 50% to 75% off. The tables in the classroom will be loaded with sale items.

Also, not related to the Sidewalk Sales, all of our Christmas fabric is currently 20% off and all books are always 20% off. Also, we always offer the specials of "buy 12 or more fat quarters and take 25 cents off each one" as well as "finish a bolt of fabric and take 20% off that cut."

Here are some pictures of items and fabrics we currently have in the sale area:

Aren't these next ones just adorable?

Dolls, Elephants, Owls, Cats...

I'm back for the month of July, so that means I get to make samples again! Here are the ones I've made since I've been home.

First, a couple of elephants. These are from Indygo Junction's "Eloise & Elmore" pattern:

Some cats:

...and an owl. This one is made from a pattern by the same person who designed Otis & Rhubarb (the cute little dogs I made samples of earlier, and one of them is in the right of this picture). She does a really nice job of making great patterns.

The dolls needed some new clothes, so they're all set for Christmas now! The first dress is an individual pattern, and the others come from the book "All Dolled Up".

Willkommen bei Alpenfest und Delphine's !!

Welcome to Alpenfest and Delphine's !!

This week the city of Gaylord presents their 48th annual Alpenfest!  If you are in the area, you must stop in town to partake all the festivities from crafts to cuisine to carnival rides, free food, um-pah-pah bands, contests like the ugliest dog contest or the prettiest ankles contest, a parade, and more.  It all begins at 6pm Tuesday, July 17 and ends Saturday evening.

Stop by Delphine's while in town - there is plenty of parking available and "Wir sind gerade um die Ecke von der Alpenstrasse",  which translates to, "We are just around the corner from the Alpenstrasse".

We always have sale bolts from $5 to $8 per yard as well as 20% off Christmas fabric and kits.

The gals in the shop collaborated on this dirndl quilt a few years ago - come see it in person and we also have the pattern for you to purchase if you wish.  It was such fun for each of us to create our own dirndl - the traditional dress of the Alps.

Delphine, Katrina and Cathy are wearing their life-size dirndls for Alpenfest!
Katrina and Delphine were caught outside with Herr Gessler.   You can read more about the legend of evil ruler Herr Gessler and William Tell at

Great Tote Bag Classes at Delphine's

Judy will be teaching two tote bag classes in July and August and she prepared a Smilebox for you to see what the bags look like (up close and personal)...

The Professional Tote Bag is amazing!  It has zippered pockets, snap pockets, velcro pockets, pockets for your passport or documents, a place to hide you money, a key fob so you can find your keys quickly and easily, a pocket for your cell phone, side pockets to hold water bottles or an umbrella or baby bottles, room for your lap top or Kindle or iPad, and the list goes on.  It even has a pocket to hold file folders so they don't get crushed and wrinkled.  This tote would also make a great diaper bag.  This 2 session class will meet on July 17 and then again on July 31, each day from 10am until 2:30pm with a 30 minute lunch break.  The class fee is $40 plus pattern and supplies.

The second tote class (Square Dance Tote) is being offered as a Beginning Quilting Class but you don't have to be a beginner to want to have this tote for yourself.  Throw away all those plastic bags and make yourself a proper tote!!  In the class we will cover fundamentals such as cutting, measuring, 4-patches, half-square triangles, flying geese, and sew and flip methods.   Judy has lots of tips to make your piecing more perfect-you're sure to learn something new!!  We will meet 3 times:  July 10, July 24, and August 7, each day from 10am until 2:30pm with a 30 minute lunch break.  The class fee is $60 plus a minimal amount of fabric.  The pattern is provided by Judy.

This next class isn't a tote bag but it's a very fun class.  Sew strips into tubes which will turn into blocks - it's magic!!  The Strip Tube Quilt Class is being offered on Tuesday, August 21 from 10am until 2:30pm with a 30 minute lunch break.  The class fee is $20 + supplies.

All these classes have samples which can be viewed at the shop.  But here is the Smilebox I was telling you about...Click here
