A new quilter, Vickie Zalenski, recently stopped by the store with her new quilt. She did a great job! The fabrics came from here, and I especially like what she did for a border. Just thought we'd share her great quilt with you here :)

WE SURVIVED SHOP HOP!!!
We survived all the flurry and fun of "The Amazing Quilt Race" Shop Hop. Everyone seemed to have a great time and were excited to see our newly expanded shop. There's more to come as we continue to remodel/spruce up the second half of the new space. Our class area/club space/demo niche is now in the front of the new room so we get lots of natural light plus room to move around. Judy is very excited about this new classroom. We actually had a class there last Wednesday, the Free Motion Quilting Class. You might be interested to know that Kris Beery of Gaylord won the grand prize of a Bernina 215 - she was thrilled (who wouldn't??).

Delphine's quilt for the shop hop, Fall Majesty, was well received by the hoppers. In case you didn't get to purchase a kit, we still have finishing kits as well as complete kits which include the blocks, fabric, and instructions from all six shops. Give us a call if you would like to purchase one of these kits and we can hold it for you. The finishing kit cost $43.99 and the complete kit costs $79.99,
Once the last customer left the store on the last day of the shop hop, Delphine started ordering more fabrics and notions. You'll see more of these new things on the blog as they arrive.
The other day, one of Judy's students stopped by to show us her very first free motion quilted project. It is SEW cute and very well done!! This little quilt was done by Jackie Brown and is a pattern from Primitive Quilts and Projects Magazine. Judy gave her an A+.
Jackie also brought along this beauty which was hand pieced and hand quilted. Judy wants to take a class from her!!
Another quilt on display is Lake Life which was pieced and quilted by our Cathy Hughes. The 4 center images are from a panel and the surrounding fabrics all coordinate very well. The pattern book, Lake Life, has about 9 other patterns which use this line. This quilt and its fabrics have become a favorite with our customers and more panels should arrive any day now.

Cathy's quilting is a bobber motif - it is very well done!

That's all for today. See you all here next week.
Keep on stitching,
Judy
In case you are wondering, the Neighborhood is growing and soon will become a very nice quilt. Soon, I promise! Judy

READY TO SHOP HOP?
Only 2 days until the beginning of the
We've been busy here at Delphine's with all the preparations...getting the block kits made, the finishing kits made, writing instructions for the block and the quilt, cutting fat quarters, knocking a hole in the wall...
What's that you say? Yes, Delphine and Dennis knocked a hole in the wall and expanded the shop to the retail space next door. It is so exciting and so big!!!! This is what you see when you walk in the shop's front door...
It is still a work in progress, but we have moved all the sale fabric and sale items into the new space as well as the classroom. With all the extra wall space, we have a trunk show from Big Fork Bay Quilt Company out of Montana. They are famous for their animal patterns and fabric kits but also have these wonderful seasonal wall quilts. They also sent us some of their Chicken quilts which will bring a smile to your face as soon as you look at them...Dancing Chickens? Yep, they're dancing!!!
In this next picture, you see more of the chickens as well as Delphine's Shop Hop quilt, and the MQN raffle quilt. What beauties!!
Here's a view of the sale portion of the room. The curtains separate the "mostly done" section with the "not ready for prime time" section. The classroom is in the front of this room closest to the windows - plenty of light and plenty of room for spreading out while taking a class or enjoying a club or just visiting with your sewing buddies.
This next photo shows one of our demos for the Shop Hop. It's a very clever way to make placemats with pre-cut fusible forms, a charm pack, and an ingenious tumbler ruler. You won't want to miss this!!

DELPHINE'S SHOP HOP KIT
Hello Everyone!!
I must tell you more about the Shop Hop blocks and Quilts. Each shop has designed an autumn themed block. When you visit each of the shops on the hop, you will receive a free pattern for that shop's block. Fabric kits may be purchased at the shop so that you can use the same fabric and colors as the shop's design. Also, each shop has designed a quilt that features all six blocks from the six shops on the hop. You may view each quilt when you visit that shop and finishing kits with the pattern will be available for purchase. Each shop will have a different setting so you can decide which one you like best and purchase that finishing kit.
Delphine's quilt is shown below. Her block is the maple leaf block and is repeated 4 times in the quilt. She decided to create a smaller quilt rather than a bed size one - just perfect for covering your legs and feet while sitting in your favorite easy chair and watching your husband rake leaves. (hee-hee)
Another bonus of Delphine's design is that by purchasing the finishing kit, you could make a table runner using 3 or 4 of her blocks.
So, without further ado, here is Delphine's creation...
ALL AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD
As expected, the new church was completed just the other day and the neighborhood families are looking forward to Sunday services soon. The stain-glass windows will reflect the sunlight in the morning.
See you next week with information about Delphine's Quilt Shop's ANNIVERSARY SALE. The sale starts on Thursday, October 4th through Saturday, October 6th. It's been 4 wonderful years here at Delphine's and we know you won't want to miss this great party. By the way, the Gaylord Quilt Guild will have their spectacular quilt show on Friday and Saturday (October 5-6) at Treetops Resort, just down the road apiece from Delphine's. See you all soon and...
KEEP ON SEWING,
Judy

WHAT'S THIS NOW???
Coming soon...All Around the Neighborhood
Looks like a little cabin in the woods...wonder if they will get any neighbors? Tune in next week (or sooner) to see if anyone moves in next door...
In another corner of the shop, you will find yourself thinking about the magical season of CHRISTMAS. Peggy Stasko made this sample and Cathy Hughes quilted it for us. The pattern is called "Joyful" and it was made with Kate Spain's JOY fabric. It makes us feel all warm and happy when we walk by it! Come in and see it for yourself. Christmas is only 3 1/2 months away and you know how quickly that time will go by. We have lots to projects to please all the people on your gift list.
Sign up to "Follow by Email" - look over on the right sidebar to enter your name and email address. By following us, you will be alerted when we post something new so that you can keep up with what's happening at Delphine's. By the way, there may be some prizes or specials that you will be eligible for only when you follow us. There are so many things happening soon and you will want to be among the first to find out all about them!!
